Modeling Simulation and Characterization of Hybrid Energy Harvester for Structural Health Monitoring Systems of Bridges

From last few decades’ piezoelectric materials are widely used in the field of structural health monitoring because its ability for voltage dependent actuation. This paper presents analytical modeling and simulation a hybrid (electromagnetic piezoelectric) energy harvester (having nonlinear behavior) that generates power from vibrations bridges structure systems. The modeled is comprised two beams tip masses attached to ends both beams. Beam 1 consists layer substrate while beam 2 contains coil permanent magnet. assembled with specific L shaped Geometry. Base excitations provided transverse direction first harvester. L-shape as continuous system rather than lumped-mass investigate dynamic behavior more sophisticated manner. performed parallel series combinations layers. In case combination layers, maximum 1.66 V obtained at 0.2g acceleration level resonance, corresponding 65.61 µW produced. However, shows production 1.95 90.54 level.
